""AROOSTOOK 21" is our path to prosperity for the 21st century"

       Chris Anderson,
President F. A. Peabody Co.

AROOSTOOK 21 is the name and theme for an economic enhancement project created to develop and expand the economic base of southern Aroostook County. Business and community leaders from throughout the area are working together to help coordinate, promote, and guide new business creation.

We're excited at the possibilities for growth in our area, and hope you will find the information here useful.

VISION

Southern Aroostook Development Corporation sees this region as an economically vibrant and prosperous community in which to live, work and play.  This is a special place in rural America where people can live and prosper in a healthy and safe environment, bring up and educate children, instill in them good moral character and a life-long work ethic.

MISSION

The mission of Southern Aroostook Development Corporation is to support the vision of an economically progressive community.  SADC enlists the cooperation and support of area communities, businesses and organizations with similar views in order to meet this region's needs now and in the future.

THE PLAN

As economic activity is flourishing everywhere around the country and in other parts of Maine, we believe southern Aroostook County has been overlooked. Therefore, SADC's focus is to locate, identify, and qualify prospects who can benefit from the abundant resources available in this area.
Generally speaking, almost any business is a prospect.  However, the most probable businesses are natural resource-based businesses adding value to products grown and harvested in this area.  Light manufacturing, such as precision tool or electronics manufacturing, and telecommunications and back office industries are also compatible with this area and its work force.  Any new business, or business expansion, that employs one, ten, one hundred, or even more is a step towards the overall objective.
Qualified prospects will have the resources of all the organizations and government entities associated in any way with SADC, as SADC will call on these groups soliciting their cooperation and support.
The officers and directors of SADC are committed and determined, and with community support, will strengthen the economic base of southern Aroostook County.  This will establish that this area has an "edge over anywhere else and a view for better days, now, and into the 21st century."
